The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (Zuj) notes with concern the assaults of journalists, Kingstone Mapupu in Mbare, Paidamoyo Muzulu and Albert Masaka in Chitungwiza during the weekend.
The union said it is reported that Zanu PF youths went on rampage at a Chitungwiza constituency feedback meeting on Saturday 18 /06/16 and attacked residents, among them were the journalists.
"Mapupu was robbed and attacked by kombi conductors at Mbare terminus while he claims that some of the conductors were shouting his name," ZUJ reported.
"ZUJ condemns any form of attack and arrest of journalists during the course of their work or because of their job description. The attack of journalists is not acceptable because they will be practising their work."
