Woman bites Council cop

An illegal vendor has been arrested on allegations of biting a municipal policeman before attempting to jump off a council vehicle as a way of resisting arrest. Tendai Gangwa who resides in Kuwadzana 3 and plies her illegal vending trade in the CBD vehemently denied the charge of assault before Harare magistrate Barbra Masinire.
The State, was not opposed to Gangwa being admitted to bail and she was remanded out of custody to November 17. It is the State's case that on November 7 around 5pm, the complainant, Simbarashe Chihambakwe and his workmates were on duty, patrolling and searching for people were breaching council by-laws.
The court heard that the municipal police approached a place near TM Harare Street and Chihambakwe saw Gangwa displaying her wares, selling tomatoes at an undesignated place without a municipal licence. He approached her to effect arrest but she resisted.
Before the court it emerged that she bit the council cop and tried to jump off a council vehicle but she was finally apprehended. She was ordered to reside at her given address and not to interfere with State witnesses until the matter is finalised.
She will be back in court for trial continuation.
