A 42 year-old Beatrice man sobbed uncontrollably begging for the State to close its case and make its ruling before threatening to commit suicide saying that he had had enough from the courts.

Cuthbert Shoko who resides at Chenzira Shop in Beatrice also told the court that he had enough of police victimisation to the extent that his continuous appearance at the courts was affecting his children's performance at school.

Had it not been enough, Shoko even gave away his wife in the process! "In ndapererwa ende munondirwadzisa. Sei ndichingonzi inini ndoga pavanhu vose ava. (I have run short of ideas, why is it that you always point fingers at me out of all these people) "I can even commit suicide plus futi mukadzi wangu torai ndapererwa ini (you can take my wife)," he sobbed. Shoko appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Godfrey Unzemoyo answering to charges of using abusive language and assault.

Prosecutor Concellia Maheya said that on October 3 this year at around 5pm, Shoko went to Beatrice police station in a kombi. On arrival he went to the Officer in charge's office where he complained that he had been overcharged by the kombi crew. He was charged US$2 from Harare to Beatrice. Shoko was referred to one Sgt Chitova for assistance and he then asked him to detain the conductor.

Sgt Chitova was said to have refused and called the driver before resolving the matter with him. It appears as that did not go down well with him and started hauling vulgar words at the Officer in charge whilst he was at the station's gate on his way out. The court heard that he lashed at the officer-in-charge one Inspector Dube saying: "Inspector Dube acham*m* chete. Haasvike kuHarare".(Inspector Dube will face the music)

His words prompted constables Chitova, Nyawaranda to follow him and arrest him. Constable Mukoseri also chipped in to help them apprehend him. The court also heard that he resisted arrest arguing that the officers were too young to arrest him and police deputy general Godwin Matanga was the only one who could arrest him. Further allegations were that he became violent and clapped Sgt Chitova in the process.

Whilst he was in the cells, Shoko was said to have also further uttered more vulgar words to the police by saying: He accused them of arresting him so that they can go and make love to his wife.
