A CHITUNGWIZA car thief, James Nengomasha (36) who reportedly stole a vehicle worth US$9 000 in Botswana two months ago has been arrested in Harare.

Nengomasha was last week brought to the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing theft of motor vehicle charges.

He was not asked to plead to the charge when he appeared before magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei who remanded him in custody to November 18.

Nengomasha was, however, advised to apply for bail at the High court.

It is the State's case that sometime in September in Gaborone, Botswana, Nengomasha stole a Toyota Dyna.

The court heard that Nengomasha acquired Mozambique registration Number AAK236 MP and the registration book.

He drove the vehicle into Zimbabwe via South Africa, it is alleged.

Nengomasha was arrested after a tip off and was found in possession of the stolen vehicle.

It is the State case that he failed to produce documents, which proved that he had bought the vehicle.
