Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has reacted to accusations of corruption and the recent protests against his stay at the Rainbow Hotel in Harare, saying such actions are based on misinformation and falsehoods.
Speaking at the handover of 4000 chicks to residents of Ward 25 under Nketa-Emganwini constituency in Bulawayo today, Mphoko said those peddling the falsehoods are bent on tarnishing his clean image, adding that they will not succeed in their bid to discredit him.
Mphoko went on to defend his stay in hotel for over two years now, saying the facility is part owned by government and as such, there is nothing amiss about him occupying state owned property.
Turning to the donation, the Vice President Mphoko was said the project is part of government efforts to empower its people so that they become self reliant.
This is the second batch of chicks donated by Mphoko to the Nketa-Emganwini constituency.
The first batch of 3000 chicks was handed over to 10 groups which included cooperatives .
More groups are expected to benefit from the project.
