Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has been reminded that he is not the best liberation fighter to demand the best accommodation as there are many cadres who fought more serious wars than him who still leave in poverty and are not demanding anything because they were not fighting selfish reasons.
A Political analyst Vince Musewe said the nation appreciate Mphoko's participation in the liberation war.
"Our message to VP Mphoko is that we thank you very much for sacrificing your time to briefly join the armed struggle before you absconded to Mozambique," he said. "We appreciate your sacrifice and that of many others who are unfortunately still living in poverty to this day, despite their selfless contribution to the first chapter of our fight for total freedom and emancipation."
He said however that does not entitle Mphoko to anything else except people appreciation.
"That does not entitle you to waste our resources and claim that you alone are special. Many others contributed much more than you did and participated for the entire duration of the struggle and yet they are claiming nothing because they did it for the country and not for selfish ambition," he said.
A journalist Francis Rwodzi said clearly Mphoko needs to visit a mental hospital as soon as possible.
"What does he needs to explain to people? The issue here is about morality whether the government is paying or not. After all the government does not start and end with him, he is a civil servant who should listen to his employers, The people. At his age clinging on to hotel stay when he was allocated a 3.5 million house is sheer madness. So he went to the bush so that he would stay in a hotel?" he said.
