Magaya steals Wicknell Chivayo's shoes

Flashy businessman Wicknell Chivayo had his rare expensive pair of shoes stolen by a Mufakose man - Ignatius Magaya.

He was spotted wearing them in Harare.

A court heard that on the early hours of April 10 this year, Magaya went to Chivayo's house in Ballantyne Park in the capital, forced the door open and stole various clothing and pair of shoes.

When he was arrested he made revelations that he was responsible of stealing Chivayo's other clothes plus various properties from 10 different people.

The 40-year-old, who is being represented by lawyer Lucky Mawuwa, revealed to the police that the stolen items were at his place of residence and at a farm in Kutama.

Magaya was then arrested and taken to Harare magistrates' court charged with 11 counts of unlawful entry.

Reports are that on the wee hours of September 30 last year, Magaya went to Michael Cain's place of residence at The Grange where he stole 20 litre diesel, battery chain saw and grass cutter.

On October 2 of the same year, he went to Lovemore Madembo's house in Ruwa where he allegedly stole a solar panel, gas stove and curtains.

Three days after breaking into Madembo's house, Magaya allegedly stole from Lee Mugoni's house and went away with various items.

In the same month Magaya is also said to have stolen from Regina Mawere and Musa Gumede.

Early this year, Magaya is said to have broken into Agnes Kunaka, Tamlyan Birket's houses where he stole various items and vanished.

On May 29, Magaya is alleged to have returned in Chivayo's neighbourhood where he broke into Koumides Kynaros house and stole laptops and jewellery.

Magaya is also alleged to have stolen from Richard Wild of Highlands.

The stolen properties were valued at US$60 660 while items worth US$37 970 has been recovered.

Harare provincial magistrate Vakayi Chikwekwe presided whilst Sebastian Mutizirwa prosecuted.
