Media Monitoring Project of Zimbabwe has said the plans by the Zimbabwean government to employ more teachers at a time it was struggling to meet the salary expectation for the current work force was a fallacy and would impoverish the educators who are already struggling to survive due to delayed salaries.
"Recently we congratulated the govt in its efforts to making education accessible to all. But the question now is, since the govt intends to recruit 10 000 teachers how is it going to pay them considering it is delaying payment already?" MMPZ posted on its Facebook wall.
Harare west MP Jessie Fungayi Majome also asked if someone can explain how a $100 part payment of an overdue salary becomes an advance payment.
"Is this an attempt at rigging the economy and plain simple truth and sense?" she said.
This was after the government tried to console the civil servants who were mooting strikes following the delay in their pay by offering $100 advance to them.
