ZUJ mourns former union President

The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists  has said it  is with a very heavy heart and a deep sense of loss and sorrow to hear of the death of former Zimbabwe Union of Journalists, ZUJ, President, Cde Dumisani Sibanda.

"A formidable trade unionist, a  human and workers  rights defender, Sibanda was very instrumental in inculcating the spirit of rights awareness among colleagues  from his days as a student activist and during his time as a  working journalist," said the union.

"He was a gentle giant who was willing to assist, support and encourage young and up coming journalists."

ZUJ said known for his ability to interact at all levels with student, junior and senior media personalities, the industry has lost a genial  and ever  jovial colleague  who  always emphasized the need for ethical and professional journalism.

"May his Soul  Rest in Eternal Peace," ZUJ said.
