A 29-YEAR-OLD Beitbridge herdman has been arrested on allegations of raping his employer's three-year-old daughter.
Ernest Ncube is alleged to have raped the girl at night on June 30.
Ncube, who works in the new resettlement area near Three Way Safaris in Beitbridge, was not asked to plead to a charge of rape when he appeared before Beitbridge magistrate Mr Innocent Bepura.
He was remanded in custody to July 19 for trial at the regional court.
Prosecuting, Mr Penson Chekeya told the court that on June 30 at around 8PM, Ncube went to his bedroom to sleep and the girl followed him.
Chekeya said the man touched the girl's privates and then raped her once.
After committing the crime, he allegedly released her to her mother.
Mr Chekeya said the offence came to light the following day when the minor's mother noticed that her genitals were swollen while bathing her.
He said the mother also noticed some whitish discharge on her privates and when she questioned her daughter, the minor revealed what Ncube had done to her.
The matter was reported at Chaswingo police station and the minor was then taken to Beitbridge district hospital for medical examination.
