Daily News notes that Sadc's bid to save Zimbabwe from further international isolation through the institution of "tough" restrictive and travel measures has all but failed to reap the intended fruits unless the coalition government implements reforms.

Sadc had taken it upon themselves to push for the removal of sanctions but the EU and the US had so far refused to remove the sanctions preferring to keep them until next year when they would carry out assessment of the situation on the ground.

Meanwhile, The South African Cabinet is said to have approved strategies which the country will use during its tenure as the chair of Sadc organ on politics, defence and security cooperation.

SA President Jacob Zuma is the Sadc appointed mediator in the Zimbabwe crisis.

SA is also preparing itself for Zimbabwean elections as part of the region's observer mission, should polls be held next year.
