The government has issued a warning to individuals and politically affiliated groups that are planning a stay away and to destabilise the country that they will face the full wrath of the law.

Addressing a media briefing in Harare today, Home Affairs Minister Dr Ignatius Chombo, who was flanked by the Minister of State Security Kembo Mohadi, the Minister of Defence Dr Sydney Sekeramayi and the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Dr Christopher Mushohwe, assured Zimbabweans that law enforcement agents will be out in full force this Wednesday and Thursday to deal with any disturbances.

Despite calls by the government for people to desist from abusing the social media by sending messages inciting people to engage in violent protests and stay aways, that has not stopped.

"The regime change agenda has gone a gear up as evidenced by the involvement of some foreign embassies in attempts to destabilise the country," said Dr Chombo, adding that law enforcement agents will be out in full force to ensure that people go ahead with their business.

He however commended patriotic and peace-loving Zimbabweans for remaining steadfast and refusing to participate in activities bent on destabilising the country.

Dr Chombo noted that people are allowed to present petitions but it must be done within the confines of the law.
