Anonymous police officers in Harare have issued a warning to the citizens to stay at home as they risked getting into cross fire as the law enforcement agents want to deal with suspected criminal elements.
In a warning circulating in the social media the police said "if you drive your vehicle to work you run the risk of losing it, it may be stoned or you may be stoned or arrested, we ZRP advise the people of Zimbabwe who are peace loving citizens to stay in doors and not engage in any violent conduct."
"All vehicles on the road will be stopped and searched tomorrow, if there are more than three people in your vehicle we will temporarily take you to the nearest station for questioning until further notice."
"We therefore appeal to all Zimbabweans to stay in doors tomorrow and leave the puppets of imperialism alone so that we will be able to arrest them without affecting innocent civilians."
The message is said to have been generated at the ZRP information desk. PGHQ Harare.
Social media has been awash with hoax messages where some malicious, unscrupulous individuals are trying to harvest some cheap political capital.
Econet Wireless spokesperson Mr Lovemore Nyatsine yesterday dismissed a message circulating on social media informing the company's employees not to report for duty today and Thursday because of "the looming violence".
Said Mr Nyatsine: "It is a hoax where some malicious, unscrupulous individuals are trying to harvest some cheap political capital."
