Beitbridge Town Council requires at least US$120 000 to replace traffic lights that were vandalised during violent protests that took place in the border town recently.
Efforts by the Beitbridge local authority to transform the border town which is regarded as the face of the country suffered a huge dent following last month's disturbances that ended in vandalism.
The Town Secretary, Mr Loud Ramagkapola said repairs for damaged vehicles, traffic lights and road signs will chew in an estimated US$120 000, money which could have gone to service other needy areas.
Mr Ramagkapola also revealed that prior to the installation of traffic lights at the three intersections, a frequency of at least three to four accidents were recorded every month.
