A CHINESE national yesterday appeared before the court on allegations of being found in possession of cocaine with an estimated street value of US$60.
Xu Yazhou, 28, appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe charged with contravening chapter 14 of the Dangerous Drugs Act which is being found in possession of cocaine.
He was remanded out of custody on US$100 bail.
As bail conditions he was ordered to surrender his passport to the clerk of court, not to interfere with State witnesses until the matter is finalized.
He was also ordered to report once every Monday at CID Drugs Section between 6am and 6pm.
Allegations facing Yazhou are that sometime on July 12 this year at around 1515hours he was approached at his place of residence by police detectives.
The State represented by Sebastian Mutizirwa heard that a body search was conducted by one detective and was found in possession of two plastic sachets containing whitish powder suspected to cocaine.
It is alleged that he was then taken to Boarder Control and Minerals Unit who then referred him to CID Drugs and Narcotics.
The white substance was tested at CID Drugs Harare Field Test Kit and came out positive that it was indeed cocaine.
He is expected to appear back in court on July 27 for trial commencement.
