Court dismisses Lumumba's remand challenge

The court has dismissed William Mutumanje aka Acie Lumumba's application for refusal of further remand and has set Friday this week as his trial date.

Lumumba was challenging his prosecution on charges of undermining the authority of the President, adding that the Prosecutor General did not sanction his prosecution.

However, the state had urged the court to dismiss the application, saying the Prosecutor General can delegate that duty to any officer in the National Prosecuting Authority.
