'Inadequate funding compromises quality of elections'

Zimbabwe's Electoral Commission (Zec) chairperson Justice Rita Makarau has warned that lack of funding and public trust could compromise preparations for the 2018 elections.

The Zec boss made the remarks in Harare yesterday while updating stakeholders on the electoral body's state of preparedness.

She said that they had been able to however to carry out some necessary electoral reforms.

She said they were now independent and have to go to the Treasury directly which may not mean they come back with money.
