The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions official Last Tarabuku has said some members of the Zimbabwe Banks and Allied Workers Union who were demonstrating at BancABC in Harare have been arrested and currently at Rhodesville Police station.
He said they are 9 who were arrested and these were part of the 44 employees whose contracts of employment were terminated on 20 July 2015.
"Steward Bank which is wholly owed by Econet is refusing to pay them retrenchment packages. So today they were commemorating their 1st anniversary since their dismissal. They see no reason why they should be compelled to seek police clearance for bona fide trade union activities," he said.
