A 15-YEAR-OLD girl from Bulawayo who ran away from home after being chided by her mother for having a boyfriend at an early age, handed herself to the police asking them to take her back home, a court has heard.

The girl's family reported her missing after she ran away from home on May 27 when her mother confronted her for having a boyfriend and last week on Thursday she went to the police and asked them to escort her home.

This followed the publication of an appeal by the police in The Chronicle last Tuesday.

It has emerged that during the time she was missing, the teenager went to her boyfriend's place and slept with two men. One of the teenager's boyfriends, Charles Ncube (23), appeared in court yesterday facing a charge of having sexual intercourse with a minor. Ncube pleaded not guilty before Western Commonage Magistrate Mr Steven Ndlovu. He was granted $50 bail and was remanded to July 25. In a statement read out in court, the girl said she ended up going to the police who took her home in Entumbane suburb.

"I would spend the day with my other boyfriend in Lobengula then the other one would come and take me for the night. The one in Lobengula didn't know that I had another boyfriend in Entumbane. I was having sexual intercourse with both of them," reads the statement.

Prosecuting, Mr Keneth Shava said on May 27, the teen ran away from home and went to stay with her boyfriend for two days. "The accused told the complainant that it wasn't safe for her to be at his house so she went to stay with a friend at Old Lobengula. On July 14, the complainant went to Western Commonage police station where she asked the police to escort her home claiming that she was no longer interested in staying with the accused," said Mr Shava.
