Chamisa and Mudzuri where catapulted to the presidium by party leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
It is understood that Khupe got the backing of top party members, national organising secretary Abednicho Bhebhe, secretary general Douglas Mwonzora, spokesperson Obert Gutu, Lovemore Moyo and Lynette Gore.
On the other hand Tsvangirai was supported by Thabitha Khumalo Charlton Hwende, Amos Chibaya, and Murisi Zvizvai.
Other committe members Theresa Makone and Happymore Chidziva absconded the meeting.
Some party youths had planning to stage a demonstration against Khupe when she reports to the party's Harvest House offices in Harare.
