The First Lady Grace Mugabe on Friday said the country is going through difficult times because of the drought.
Mugabe was speaking at the Mazowe Children's Home during her 51st birthday celebrations.
She said the people are working hard to ensure no one starves.
Mugabe said she will use her opportunity as First Lady to improve the lives of the underprivileged.
She said she wants the people of Zimbabwe to see that 92-year-old President Mugabe gave the nation a worthy Mother of the Nation.
The First Lady said those who go abroad for studies should know that they have a role to come back and develop their country in their areas of specialisation.
Mugabe said she is leading by example to develop Zimbabwe in the area of infrastructure development.
