War vets leader granted bail

A Harare magistrate has granted War veterans spokesperson Douglas Mahiya $300 bail.
Mahiya was ordered to report twice a week at the Zimbabwe Republic police CID law and Order section in Harare and instructed reside at his Chitungwiza house.
Mahiya was arrested on Wednesday last for allegedly undermining the authority of or insulting President Mugabe.
His bail hearing today attracted former vice president Joyce Mujuru, MDC-T Vice president Nelson Chamisa and scores of people to show solidarity.
Magistrate granted Mahiya $300 bail but state applied for suspension of the order using the amended sec 121 of the CPNE Act.
Scores of war veterans had gathered outside the court premises with riot police keeping a close eye.
