Serial presidential contestant and leader of the Africa National Party (ANP) leader, Egypt Dzinemunhenzva has warned that Zimbabwe will plunge into a bloody civil war.

He said that would be sparked by President Robert Mugabe's refusal to listen and give into "demands for change".

Dzinemunhenzva claims that ‘even the blood that was spilt during the liberation struggle is now complaining'

"What we want now is change and if the government does not listen to its people, I fear there will be war" he is quoted saying by NewsDay.

A war veteran, Dzinemunhenzva said his party was not worried about Mugabe's threats against former freedom fighters.

"We are not worried over attempts to offer people money, which is an attempt to buy votes. Abel Muzorewa tried it, but he still lost. When people are ready, no amount of threats will stop them," he said.

Mugabe (92) has been in power since 1980 and is showing no signs of stepping down despite mounting pressure.

His Zanu PF party has already nominated him as its preferred 2018 presidential candidate.
