A school teacher at Nyazvidzi Secondary School in Village 4B under Chikomba District has been sent on compassionate leave after allegations of witchcraft rocked the school recently.

Chikomba District Education Officer, Ngoni Mujuru confirmed the development and said the matter was still to be forwarded to the Provincial Education Director and there is not yet a solution on the issue.

Caught up in the witchcraft debacle is Stella Ndachengedzwa, a teacher at the school. She was sent on compassionate leave after parents petitioned the Ministry.

Ndachengedzwa who was teaching Agriculture at the school joined Nyazvidvi Secondary School at the beginning of this year. Sources said she was transferred from two different schools last year.

There was drama at the school recently when parents sang and danced as they protested at the school.

"She is on compassionate leave until the end of this term and this follows a petition from the parents. The matter is not resolved yet and we are still to inform the PED's office," said Mujuru.

Sources said Ndachengedzwa was early this year transferred from Inyethu Secondary School in Msasa under the same district.

There are reports that Ndachengedzwa fractured her leg when things got nasty with parents at some school.

From Inyethu Secondary, Ndachengedzwa was allegedly transferred to Earnest Kadungure in Chivhu where she was then transferred to Nyazvidzi this year. Efforts to get a comment from the school head Augustine Chipenzi and Ndachengedzwa were fruitless.

Efforts to get a comment from Ndachengetedzwa were futile up to the time of going to Press.
