Chief Negove of Mberengwa installed

The new Chief Negove of Mberengwa has finally been installed after family feuds that saw a previous event for the same purpose being cancelled when people had already gathered at the function.
The installation that happened recently was carried out in a rather tense environment as the Police had to keep an eagle eye amid fears that there were relatives bend on causing problems.
Timothy Moyo (79) of the Chedare clan was installed Chief Negove by Minister for Rural Development, Preservation of Culture and Heritage Abednico Ncube held at Murerezi High school in Mberengwa. Moyo, who was born in 1937 and is a father of five and a grandfather to 20 grandchildren. He becomes the 14th Chief Negove.
He replaces Manyungati Moyo of the Mateveke clan who had succeeded Thomas Ziurawa of Chedare family.
The event marked an end to a three year dispute that had a bitter three horse race to the throne as Zvoushe and Lenathi of Mateveke and Nehundi clan, went to court in 2015 to challenge and nullify the ascension of Moyo.
Mberengwa District administrator White Nkoma said the event was a success. "Last year we had to postpone the event at the last minute and the community lost two beasts that had already been slaughtered," said Nkoma.
Minister Ncube also described the event as a success.
The newly crowned chief Negove expressed his satisfaction at his appointment. "I ask for God's guidance in my ruling because the people are not mine but God's. I ask for God to rule without favour and lead me not to hold acrimony against anyone," said Negove.
