State manipulating charge, claims Lumumba

VIVA Zimbabwe founder, Acie Lumumba, who is accused of undermining President Robert Mugabe's authority, yesterday accused the State of concentrating on a single area of his remarks, thereby distorting his utterances.

Lumumba, real name William Gerald Mutumanje, said the State was just sticking on the part where he said "Robert Mugabe f*** you".

He made the remarks during cross-examination by prosecutor Oscar Madhume following submission of his Constitutional Court referral application last week.

Magistrate Vakai Chikwekwe is expected to deliver his ruling tomorrow.
