PROPHETIC Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) leader Walter Magaya has been arrested and arraigned before the courts on allegations of raping a 25 year old woman last year in July.
Magaya was arrested on Friday night and detained at Rhodesville police station.
He appeared before magistrate Vakai Chikwekwe who granted him $2 000 bail coupled with stringent reporting conditions.
Magaya arrived at the courts without cuffs after courts had already closed and the magistrate had to be recalled from home.
While Prophet Walter Magaya's PHD Ministries stands for Prophetic Healing and Deliverance, he believes there are people who take it to mean Pull Him Down.
Prophet Magaya revealed yesterday that he is always fighting people trying to extort money from him virtually on a daily basis.
Addressing journalists from various media organisations, Prophet Magaya thanked his wife and the prayer partners saying the ministry is growing and receiving blessings under those circumstances.
"Some people are after pulling the ministry down and they are looking for ways daily to extort me, threatening to tarnish my image and that of the ministry. But I thank the one who anointed me to deliver people that he is taking us through despite all that and people who are taking their time to listen to what I am taking from God are being blessed.
"In economic hardships, God stands with his people and some are trying to survive by extorting me and steal from the ministry but here we are, I value my wife and thank prayer partners for standing with me.
"It is amazing that in all this I realised that God gave me real friends when I was young and all those friends are with me in the ministry.
"Some come to milk and they go and some come as friends to find ways to tarnish my image and they fail and as a ministry we are witnessing God's hand and is taking us through.
"My wife is a hero considering what she is going through and all who wanted to make lies about my character, she discovered the lies and that left her firm in standing with me and I thank her for that.
"I met my wife in 2001 and I proposed to her in 2005 and we got married in 2007 and from there we are living a peaceful life that it is determining the peace of mind that takes us through.
"I have no beef with those starting their ministries and those looking for greener pastures as I look forward to grow to where church leaders like Dr. Ezekiel Guti of Zaoga and Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa are.
"Every person is tested with time and I believe the growing of their ministries has more to do with their steadiness in facing challenges," said Prophet Magaya.
He is looking forward to give residential stands to more than 90 000 families and he started with 5000 in Bulawayo.
