MDC-T's Thokozani Khupe in car accident

The Vice President of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T), Thokozani Khupe, was involved in a car accident on the way to her rural home.

According to her personal assistant, Witness Dube, on Saturday at 15:46 "Khupe's Isuzu Twin Cab veered off the road and hit a tree while trying to avoid what would have been a worse off accident scenario, 60km outside Bulawayo on the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road."

Dube said "she has been seen by a doctor at Galen House Medical Clinic in Bulawayo and is currently resting at her home. She is in a stable condition and will hopefully resume her normal duties not so long after completing her medical prescriptions."

"May I thank your prayers in advance as we remain grateful for the mercy she was shown in this untimely accident," Dube said.

Party officials said she was now resting at her Bulawayo home.

"I can confirm that she (Khupe) was involved in an accident on her way to her rural home in Kezi this (Saturday) afternoon," MDC-T's Obert Gold said.

"It was just a minor accident and Ms Khupe is not in danger. She is now resting at her home in Bulawayo"
