Zim's growth seriously affected by violence - Biti
24 Nov 2011 at 10:35hrs | Views
Tendai Biti, the MDC Secretary-General and Zimbabwe's Finance Minister today presented the 2012 national budget in Parliament and said the country's economy is likely to continue its strong recovery next year from a decade of decline.
He said the growth was due to the expansion in the finance, mining, tourism, ICT, agriculture, manufacturing and transport sectors.
However, Biti said the country's growth was being seriously affected by violence and the dysfunctional inclusive government and failure to implement some of the outstanding Global Political Agreement (GPA) issues.
He however commended the three main political parties' leaders for signing the anti-violence pledge in Harare last week and said the move will go a long way in fighting violence.
