A PROPHET with the Johanne Masowe Wechishanu Jerusarema sect in Guruve has been hauled before the court on allegations of sending insulting text messages to his church mates accusing them of practicing witchcraft.
Madzibaba Misheck Kamakeyi, 28, accused his church mates Alexander Guni of bathing in water that had been previously used to wash corpses and Tafara Musarira of using goblins and for that reason he was yanked before the Harare magistrate's court. The "messenger of God" vehemently denied the allegations of criminal insult when he appeared before magistrate Audrey Tarugarira- Robertson.
It is the State's case that on July 21, Madzibaba Kamakeyi sent an insulting text message to Guni in vernacular, saying, "urizibenzi wakafuratidzwa nemvura yezvitunha," (a lunatic who bathed with water that had been use to wash corpses) He allegedly sent another text message to Musarira accusing him of being in possession of goblins wrecking havoc in his family and causing family disintegration.
The two could not stomach the insults and sought help from the police. Kamakeyi was remanded out of custody to November 25 for trial continuation on free bail. He was ordered to reside at his given address and not to interfere with State witnesses until the matter is finalised. Prosecutor Crispen Mavengano is appearing for the State.
