SENATOR David Coltart is unsuitable to be the minister of Education, Sport and Culture because he is white and does not understand black arts and culture, a Cabinet minister has said.

In an interview with the state run Sunday News newspaper, Walter Mzembi, a Zanu PF member and Minister of Tourism and Hospitality said Sen Coltart, who is white - was unfit to be in his position because of his "background."

The Tourism and Hospitality minister also took a swipe at the Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Professor Welshman Ncube and the inclusive Government for failing to deploy a suitable person in the said portfolio saying:

"It was an oversight on the part of the MDC N and the principals in the inclusive Government that they allowed him (Sen Coltart) to take that post," he said.

Mzembi added, "Although Sen Coltart may not say so himself, I felt giving him that ministry with the important culture aspect was an oversight on the part of the inclusive Government.

"They looked at the wholesome education and trivialized the culture aspect, which is an important cog in the ministry.

"Those are clear iniquities of the inclusive Government and perhaps that is why there is so much talk of it having failed the nation and the incessant call to wrap it up.

"The issue is that Sen Dave is a white man. He belongs to a minority but was tasked with presiding over black's divergent cultures.

"It is obvious he has little knowledge and appreciation of the importance of our culture and as he is doing little in improving that aspect," said Mzembi.

The marvelic Zanu PF minister also added that Sen Coltart's little or no understanding of black culture was affecting the Tourism sector which is heavily dependent on culture.

Contacted for comment Sen Coltart said, "I think it is not ok for me to comment on those allegations. I will not be the judge of myself. It is better therefore that you get a comment from people directly involved in arts and culture disciplines," he said.
