War vets disown communique

War veterans' leaders who are being charged for insulting President Robert Mugabe have distanced themselves from a communique forming the basis of their allegations and charged the state for infringing on their constitutional rights during detention.
Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans spokesperson Douglas Mahiya, Secretary General Victor Matemadanda, political commissar Francis Nhando, deputy chairperson Headman Moyo and Hoyini Samuel Bhula are accused of contravening section 33 of the Criminal Law on charges of undermining authority or of insulting the president.
