Three Zimbabwean nationals, who were extradited from Kuwait on human trafficking allegations, were yesterday released on $300 bail each coupled with stringent conditions.
The suspects, Norest Maruma (30), Tinashe Magret Nyamande (23) and Lorraine Nhapata (30), were remanded to October 6 by provincial magistrate, Tendai Mahwe, who ordered them to surrender their passports, reside at their given addresses and report to CID Law and Order every Friday.
The three were arrested a fortnight ago at Harare International Airport on arrival from Kuwait.
According to the State, on unknown dates, but between February and July this year, the suspects allegedly recruited the complainants to work as housemaids in Kuwait.
The State alleges the complainants went through a recruitment process conducted by the suspects while in Kuwait via WhatsApp.
The State alleges when the complainants travelled to Kuwait, they were received by an agent identified as Lina Lena, who took them to their respective employers, where their passports were confiscated and were held as slaves.
About 200 Zimbabwean women allegedly fell victim to the scam.
Sebastian Mutizirwa appeared for the State.
