A polygamous Budiriro man in Harare assaulted his wife over a blanket he had snatched from her and intended to give his second wife.
That was the only blanket Tafara Mbeure had.
Raramisai Mavhembo aged 34 has since been jailed for seven months after he pleaded guilty before magistrate Gladys Moyo.
According to H-Metro, Mavhembo was initially sentenced to 10 months while three were suspended for the next five years on condition of good behaviour and that he will not commit a crime of a similar nature.
The court heard that on May 19 this year his wife Tafara Mbeure was given a protection order against him since he was in a tendency of physically abusing.
However, Mavhembo violated this order when he went home on July 4 this year and snatched a blanket from his wife Mbeure intending to give it to his second wife.
Mavhembo had a habit of taking the blanket with him when he switched his wives.
The court heard that the dispute started when Mavhembo took the only blanket she had and gave it to his second wife leaving her and their kid uncovered.
The two wrestled for the blanket leading to him assaulting the complainant using open hands and a cooking stick four times on the buttocks whilst grabbing her by the neck.
Tafara told the court that her husband was angered by the fact that she told his second wife to buy her own blanket.
