At least three candidates will contest the Norton seat after successfully filing their papers at the close of the Nomination Court here yesterday.

Zanu-PF candidate Ronald Chindedza will lock horns with Temba Mliswa, who is contesting on an independent ticket, and National Constitutional Assembly candidate Mr David Choga.

The presiding officer Austin Ndlovu announced at the close of the Nomination Court that three candidates had met conditions needed to contest in the by-election slated for October 22.

"After examination of all nomination papers, three candidates are duly nominated to contest in Norton constituency by-election," said Mr Ndlovu.

"These are Ronald Chindedza (Zanu-PF), David Choga of the NCA party and Temba Peter Mliswa an independent candidate."

The nomination was according to Section 46(17)(c) of the Electoral Act Chapter 2:13 as read with Proclamation No 5 of 2016.

The Norton constituency fell vacant following the expulsion and subsequent recall of Mr Christopher Mutsvangwa on allegations of fanning factionlism and denigrating the party leadership.
