The African Bar Association says it has resolved to give free legal advice to governments on serious economic issues that affect the continent.

The decision was announced at the African Lawyers Conference which ended in Harare today.

African Bar Association President, Mr Hannibal Uwaifo said some of the African challenges are due to oversight on some legal implications of decisions taken.

He added that the organisation is geared to work with leadership for the good of the African economies.

The organisation's Deputy President, Mrs Vimbai Nyemba, who is also Law Society of Zimbabwe President, said there is need to break the economic barriers that affect the ease of doing business in Africa.

Mrs Nyemba added that Zimbabwe has made significant improvements in attracting new investments, but said more needs to be done.

The African Bar Association indicated that there is need to come up with the African Court of Justice that deals with African issues.

The organisation also expressed concern at the continued exploitation of African resources by the developed nations, adding that there is need to come up with flexible business terms to attract new investments.
