Thenjiwe Lesabe's son dies

Late former Cabinet minister, Thenjiwe Lesabe's son, Sam (61), has died.

Family spokesperson, Mayibongwe Ncube, said Sam died at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) yesterday.

"He collapsed yesterday (Wednesday) morning at the farm in Gumtree and was rushed to UBH, where he died," he said.

"He will be buried in Fort Rixon in Insiza North, where his mother is buried," he said.

Lesabe, a former Zanu PF politburo member and Cabinet minister, who died in 2011, was denied hero's status by Zanu PF and was instead offered a State-assisted funeral, as at the time of her death she had defected to Zapu. Mourners are gathered at Number 6 Tuli Road, Gumtree.

Sam is survived by his wife Patricia (nee Ndlovu) and four children.
