A Dzivarasekwa woman who reportedly pimped her maid to a soldier and various other men for payment was dragged to court yesterday.
Jubilee Chiyange - together with 22-year-old Mcdonald Temba of Tynawald North, Lincoln Tendai Kadengu, 32, of Crowbrough Tynwald North and Mazwa Manyondo, 31, of Dzvivaresekwa in Harare - were jointly charged with rape.
They appeared before Harare magistrate Bianca Makwande who advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.
Chiyange, of Dzivaresekwa, allegedly arranged for Kadengu -who is a soldier, Manyondo and various other men to sleep with her housemaid in return for cash payments.
Prosecutor Peter Kachirika alleged that sometime in May this year, the complainant (unidentified) had a misunderstanding with her grandfather and was offered employment by Chiyange as a housemaid.
The court heard that Kadengu was Chiyange's friend and on one occasion they arrived at her residence together.
Chiyange then showed Kadengu to a room where the complainant was before she locked the two inside and went away.
Kadengu raped the complainant thrice without protection before he signalled for Chiyange to open the door for them.
It was further alleged that on another occasion Chiyange brought Manyondo and led him to the room where the complainant was.
The court heard that the complainant was locked inside the room with Manyondo before being raped thrice on the sofa.
In mid-July Chiyange brought Temba and shouted for him to come inside. It was alleged that when Temba got into the house Chiyange was in the company of the complainant.
She left Temba with the complainant and locked the two before the victim was raped without protection.
The court heard that Chiyange would arrange more men to sleep with her housemaid while her neighbours noticed the movements.
She would get various amounts of cash as payment.
The offence came to light after one of the neighbours tipped local police, leading to the accused persons' arrest.
Chiyange's arrest was the last as she had fled after learning that police details were after her.
