Job and salary cuts: MDC-T takes sides with civil servants

MDC-T yesterday threw its lot with civil servants who have threatened to go on strike in protest against Treasury's proposal to cut jobs and salaries as well as taxing their allowances.

MDC-T shadow finance minister Tapiwa Mashakada said while his party was against a scenario where the civil service wage bill consumed nearly 97% of revenue, he believed the government should find alternatives to reduce its expenditure.

He said the government should instead look at cutting executive parks.
