President Robert Mugabe has returned home after attending the inauguration of Zambia's sixth president, Edgar Lungu today.

In his address, President Lungu pledged to unite the people of Zambia under the motto" 'One Zambia One Nation,' during his five year term.

He also promised to visit Dundumwezi constituency and thank the 252 voters who voted for him against 30810 who voted for the opposition.

Speaking on behalf of other heads of state and government at the event held at the 60 000 capacity Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, President Mugabe said democratic states do not tolerate organisations which want to get to power through violence.

"Zambia has demonstrated that coming to power should only come through the ballot box and not by any means," he said.

Mugabe added that the people of Zambia are an envy of many countries in the region as their motto: 'One Zambia One Nation,' has taught many countries that peace and investment can only be a reality under such a motto.

He said President Lungu's victory is the people's victory, adding that the Zambian elections were free and fair as confirmed by international observers present.

Mugabe noted that Zambia and Zimbabwe have always been siamese twins, adding that Zambia's founding president, Dr Kenneth Kaunda housed most liberation movements during their fight for independence from colonial powers.
