Former Industry minister and MDC leader Welshman Ncube has said embattled finance minister Patrick Chinamasa has reached a point where "voluntary euthanasia becomes the only honorable option".
Ncube said Chinamasa cannot continue to be randomly humiliated and hindered to properly carry out his duties by President Robert Mugabe.
Last week, Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa warned that government risk not paying workers at some point.
He proposed a massive 25 000 job cut which would have reduced the workforce to 273 000 by the end of 2017 and bonus freeze for two years.
However, in a dramatic u-turn Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Christopher Mushohwe said Cabinet on
July 12 rejected such drastic proposal.
Last year, Mugabe pulled the same stunt on Chinamasa on bonuses.
Ncube, in his weekly opinion article, said for Chinamasa, resignation in the face of humiliation is honourable.
