Zimpapers employee in trouble for stealing over $8,000 newspaper copy sales

An employee with the Zimpapers in Bulawayo is in trouble after he allegedly collected copy sales cash amounting to over $8000 from vendors and diverted it to his own use.
Ndlalifa Ncube (49) of Pelandaba in Bulawayo appeared in court charged with theft.
The court heard that the complainant in the matter is Zimpapers represented by Patric Bhunu the Chief Security Officer. It is alleged that between January 2015 and January 2016 Ncube was tasked to collect c ash from selling agents and deposit the money in cashiers in which thereafter he would be given receipts.
He allegedly collected $8921, 25 from vendors and failed to deposit it as required. This was discovered by his superiors and led to his arrest. The money was not recovered.
In his defence, he said he never converted any money but all the money he collected from the agents was cashed with the cashiers. He said the system in Bulawayo accounts accountability was not up to date and needed to be verified before praying for discharge.
