Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko is at the Gwayi Shangani Dam to meet South Africans investors who have expressed interest in completing the project.

The Vice President's visit is a follow-up to the previous one which was a fact-finding mission to assess the situation at the site.

It was at this time that he began looking for investors with the objective of turning Matabeleland North into a green belt, as well as promote the growth of the industry in Bulawayo.

Matabeleland North Minister of State Ambassador Cain Mathema says the project is crucial to promote livelihoods of the people in Matabeleland region and will involve ZINWA and other relevant government departments.

Representatives of South African investors say they are willing to work on the project and see to it that it is completed for the benefit of country.

The Gwayi Shangani Dam project has been on the table since 1912, and companies from Malaysia and China who had been given the contract have failed to complete the project.
