Teen kills grandmother (78) over 'witchcraft'

A 78-year-old Mkumbura woman, Dheza Vhareta, from Rukodzo village under chief Chiswite was allegedly beaten to death over witchcraft allegations by her 15-year-old grandson.
According to police, allegations are that on 27 August 2016 Vhareta was coming from her garden when she met her grandson who accused her of practising witchcraft on him.
The boy assaulted his grandmother by open hands and fists on the head and face.
Apparently she fell helplessly to the ground but the teenager continued bashing her.
Luke Piroro (47) the son of Dheza came to her rescue after he heard her screaming for help but the help came a bit too late as she was seriously injured.
Piroro filed a police report before taking his mother (Vhareta) to Karanda hospital where she was admitted to 12 September and pronounced dead on 19 September.
Meanwhile, police are still investigating the matter.
Murder cases are on the increase in Mashonaland Central hence police are appealing to the public to respect human life and solve problems amicably.
