Mine collapses, 6 illegal miners killed

Six illegal miners were trapped to death when a mine collapsed at Gills mine, Watakai Concession in Mashonaland Central province on Thursday 22 September 2016.
Police confirmed the incident and are withholding the names of the deceased until their next of keen are informed.
It is alleged some illegal miners (makorokoza\ gweja) managed to escape and ran to file a police report.
According to estimates from those who managed to escape ten people were trapped and six bodies have been retrieved so far.
A rescue team from Mazowe mine, police and villagers are still trying to retrieve the four who are still underground and presumed to be dead.
Meanwhile, illegal mining is mushrooming in Mashonaland Central and police are appealing to all illegal miners to shun such activities and acquire licences and never risk their lives.
