The full reopening of Sabi Gold Mine in Zvishavane which was expected to create jobs and make significant contributions to foreign currency earnings has been delayed because the new investors in the project want certain amendments to the agreement.
The Mine's provisional judicial manager, Dr Wesley Sibanda of Welsa International Chartered Accountants told The Mirror that maintenance work was still going on at the mine after its closure for several years.
He added that the delay in the opening that was supposed to have fully taken place by now has not happened because there were a few amendments that the new investors want to see in the agreement.
"The mine is still under care and maintenance plus investors are yet to sign because there is a certain provision in the agreement which needs to be amended," said Sibanda.
He said he was not at liberty to say what it is that really was supposed to be amended.
"I am not at liberty to say what is supposed to be amended but what I can say at the moment is that I am expecting that by next week we will be done," said Sibanda.
