Parties in the National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA) have expressed appreciation of Botswana President Ian Khama President for taking a leadership role and addressing the controversial and failed thirty-Six (36) year rule of Robert Mugabe.
NERA said they strongly agrees with calls from President Ian Khama for President Robert Mugabe to step down and allow for new and fresh leadership to take over.
"NERA strongly echo's Ian Khama sentiments that it is obvious that at the age of 92 years and with the social and economic downward spiral of Zimbabwe, President Mugabe is not really able to provide the innovative and progressive leadership that is required to resolve the issues Zimbabwe is facing which were caused by the incompetent and reckless leadership of President Robert Mugabe and ZANU PF over almost four decades," said NERA.
"NERA sincerely urges other African Leaders Specifically Southern African Leaders to follow the leadership role taken by President Ian Khama in addressing the situation facing Zimbabwe and urge President Robert Mugabe to Step down as the social and economic situation of Zimbabwe is threatening the safety and security not only of Zimbabwe but the whole Southern Region of Africa."
"Robert Mugabe and ZANU PF must realize that the situation in Zimbabwe will not be resolved by chastising honorouble leaders such Ian Khama who preside over successful social, economic systems and flourishing democracies with cheap insults," said NERA.
"It is time for Robert Mugabe and ZANU PF to take stock and reflect on the reality of their leadership over the past thirty-six years and recognize that they have failed with flying colours and the only honorable and humble option left is to admit failure and pave way for fresh and untainted transitional leadership to take over."
"NERA will remain steadfast in pushing for electoral reform and stand United with the citizens of Zimbabwe in our peaceful fight for a better Zimbabwe."
