The bail hearing for Solomon Madzore, the MDC-T Youth Assembly chairperson at the High Court was again postponed to Monday after the State opposed bail claiming that when Madzore was arrested, he was on the run despite video evidence of Madzore appearing addressing the public at MDC-T events held across the country.
The bail hearing has now been postponed for the eighth time since 16 November 2011. Madzore is facing charges of murdering a police officer in Glen View in May.
Today's hearing failed to take place in the morning after the State prosecutor, Edmore Nyazamba did not show up in court forcing Justice Maria Zimba Dube to move it to her chambers. She however ruled that the matter should be held in an open court as it was of public interest.
After the State opposed bail claiming there were no changed circumstances in granting Madzore bail, the judge ruled that the State prosecutor and the defence lawyer should file heads of arguments interpreting what constitutes changed circumstances. The arguments should be filed at the High Court by end of day tomorrow.
The matter will then proceed on Monday.
