The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company a subsidiary of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority has sued the Bulawayo City Council for a debt of $80 million which the local authority has failed to settle with the power company for the supply of electricity to its department.

The company filed its summons demanding the payment from the council at the Harare High Court but court papers do not disclose as to how the amount accumulated to that huge amount.

ZETDC stated that despite demand the local authority had neglected, refused or failed to settle the debt. The city council is yet to respond to the lawsuit.
