FEMALE activist Linda Masarira who was recently freed on bail after spending three months in jail has declared that President Robert Mugabe is not fit to be her leader.

Masarira gained popularity after authorities caged her for three months with courts reluctant to grant her bail.

In a newspaper interview, Masarira said a vast majority of Zimbabweans share her views on the 92 year old leader.

"I do not see him as my leader," she said.

" He ceased to have that moral high ground a long time ago, so he can rant all he wants, but I am sure millions of other Zimbabweans feel the same way.

"I believe he has lost it and that he does not represent the aspirations and future of our country anymore".

According to Masarira Mugabe is abusing the very same people who have put him in power.

"I want him to step down. He does not need to be forced. He has to understand that he is old, has lost touch with reality and that Zimbabwe needs leaders who understand contemporary global trends, and we have these in abundance.

"Zimbabwe is not personal property. But unfortunately, we have allowed him to turn this country into a fiefdom and a family property," she said.

Masarira had languished in remand prison since her arrest on July 6, 2016, for allegedly obstructing or endangering free movement of persons or vehicles during the massive shutdown led by cleric, Evan Mawarire.

She had been denied bail on the basis that she was on an outstanding warrant of arrest in another matter, where she is appearing at Mutare Magistrates' Court.
